Jotron provides professional communication systems for safety at land, sea and air.

Jotron has extensive experience in providing energy safety communication and its products are developed for use in harsh offshore environments. Jotron is a leading provider of GMDSS and AIS equipment, as well as offshore coastal and air traffic control (ATC) and recording systems (VHF AM/FM). In the renewable energy market, Jotron’s communication solutions for offshore converter and substations are in use by key global market operators.

Continuous close co-operation with national and international laboratories and authorities results in high-quality products and services to the latest standards. To make high-performance equipment for the most severe conditions, Jotron relies on a team of dedicated engineers and the most modern test procedures and instrumentation.

Emergency radio equipment, markers and lights

The global maritime distress and safety system (GMDSS) requires all ships covered by the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) to install one 406 MHz float-free EPIRB, two radar transponders and portable VHFs. Since the establishment of GMDSS, Jotron has become the major supplier of the specified emergency radio equipment necessary to fulfil these mandatory requirements. Jotron’s extensive and flexible range of safety communication equipment includes GMDSS products, AIS Class A transponder, marking lights and a personal strobe light.

VHF AM/FM radio safety communication for offshore air traffic operations

Jotron airport safety communication has successfully merged into offshore air traffic operations. An increasing number of oil platforms are now fully equipped with integrated radio and recorder systems from Jotron.

The Jotron 7000 series VHF/AM Multimode Digital Radio comprises the TR-7750 Transceiver, the RA-7203 Receiver and the TA-7650 Transmitter. The radio has a compact design, a modular assembly and enables a variety of configuration possibilities. Jotron 7000 series VHF Multimode Digital Radio complies to all international standards.

The Jotron VHF/FM Coastal Radio – used for coast to ship communication – has been on the market since 2008. This radio is in use at coast stations worldwide and features full voiceover IP functionality for communication between coast and vessels and offshore installations requiring high-quality FM voice and digital selective calling (DSC).

The Jotron VHF AM Mobile Radio is a lightweight, rugged and flexible radio. The radio is ETSI, FCC and marine standard approved and can be used offshore. The compact mobile radio is suited for smaller offshore installations, helidecks and applications where ground-to-air communication is important.

Ricochet Recorder for offshore air traffic operations

Ricochet Safe Maritime ATC Recorder Technology – Offshore Industrial Level (SmartOil) is developed for small onshore and offshore ATC operations and records the communication between helicopters, offshore platforms and vessels.

Ricochet SmartOil records up to three audio channels and three CCTV cameras. The recorder allows an operator to install, operate, maintain and replay all recorded data. Ricochet SmartOil offers instant synchronous replay access and integrated replay and data management. Up to 6-12 months of recorded data can be accessed online and the process is managed with few operations.  Ricochet SmartOil is tested and verified, and can be fully integrated with Jotron radios.

About the company

Since it was founded in 1967, Jotron has grown into one of the most respected names in the maritime sector, primarily for safety at sea products. Jotron was, for example, the first company to develop and bring to market an emergency position-indicating radio beacon (EPIRB).

The company’s products have consistently been at the cutting edge of safety communication equipment for maritime applications, and Jotron works closely with the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) and other maritime organisations to develop and regulate innovative new products.
